Chapter 1104: Little Gu Jin
Editor: Henyee Translations
Gu Yang instinctively followed the girl’s command, squatting down and jumping off the table. But then it hit her: why was she listening to this brat? She wasn’t a real child; she was an adult!
Determined to turn the tables and solidify her status as the queen of the orphanage’s children, Gu Yang approached Gu Jin with renewed fighting spirit, flashing her signature smile. “Little sister, just now, I was just–”
However, when Gu Yang stood before Gu Jin, she realized the girl was a head taller than her. She had to tilt her head back to speak, and her words trailed off, lost in surprise.
Confidence in her “sister” status wavered.
Gu Jin leaned against the bookshelf, sizing her up with a raised eyebrow and a sneer. “Sister? You?”
Gu Yang felt the contempt regarding her height and held her head high, trying to appear taller, but it was futile.
Noticing the math textbook in Gu Jin’s hands, she decided to outshine her with knowledge. She wanted Gu Jin to obey her, just like Feng Jue and the others, and call her “Sister”!
Adopting a mature demeanor, Gu Yang clasped her hands behind her back, mimicking a dean. “Are you reading a sixth-grade textbook? Is there anything you don’t understand? I know everything.”
Gu Jin climbed onto the desk, carefully placing the sixth-grade textbook back in its spot before pulling out the math textbook from the top of the seventh grade. She settled on the table, flipped open the book, and glanced at Gu Yang, poking her head with a chuckle. “You? Sister? Go play with mud somewhere else.”
Gu Yang shot back, “You’re the one playing with mud. Your whole family plays with mud!”
“Childish,” Gu Jin replied lazily.
Gu Yang was taken aback. “!!!” She was being looked down upon by a brat?! Very well, she had encountered a tough nut to crack!
But she was determined to overcome this challenge and become the “Sister” everyone in the orphanage admired.
Gu Yang sat beside her, propping her cheek up with one hand. Observing how quickly Gu Jin flipped through the pages, she thought it was almost as if she were skimming a novel.
How could a child without a teacher learn junior high school material at just seven or eight? She had to be a prodigy!
“Are you really understanding this?” Gu Yang asked. “You’re only seven or eight and already reading middle school textbooks. Can you grasp it?”
Gu Jin flipped through the pages, ignoring her completely.
“Mathematics isn’t just about reading the books. You need to understand the definitions, work through example problems, and draw inferences from them,” Gu Yang pressed.
Finally, Gu Jin glanced her way. “You make it sound good. Have you finished your first-grade math yet?”
Gu Yang felt contempt.
She had skipped a grade and completed her PhD!
Gu Yang glanced at the title of the chapter Gu Jin was reading. It was about one-dollar equations. She walked over to the dilapidated podium, picked up a piece of chalk, and wrote an equation on the board.
Gu Jin’s gaze followed her, and as she examined the equations Gu Yang had listed, her eyes lit up with interest when she noticed they didn’t match the ones in her textbook.
Gu Yang passed the chalk to her. “Solve it.”
Taking the chalk, Gu Jin meticulously wrote out the complete steps on the blackboard.
As Gu Yang watched her solve the problem, she couldn’t help but feel surprised.
Was she really a prodigy?!
Looking at Gu Jin and then around the abandoned classroom, Gu Yang felt a wave of regret wash over her.
What a promising talent! With such abilities, she should be receiving a better education to contribute to society in the future!
