Chapter 932: Chapter 744, Where is the 2nd Prince Chapter 932: Chapter 744, Where is the 2nd Prince The transport team mentioned this matter when Communicating with the Dead, but the Seterde Fortress has fallen, and this transport team hasn’t received the message?

Still transporting supplies in this direction?

Wu Heng turned his head and looked at the sky; the Ghost beside him, in an invisible state, flew straight out.

His gaze returned to Geoffrey and he asked, “How many people? Where did you see them?”

Geoffrey answered, “Approximately more than 40 people, five horse-drawn carriages, two kilometers outside the south city gate. The Ranger brought back the news; they should be near the fortress by now.”

Five horse-drawn carriages?

Given the importance of Seterde Fortress, even in times of peace, they shouldn’t be sending just this little in supplies.

Was this the first batch of supplies, or was there some other purpose?

Wu Heng asked, “They haven’t received the news that the fortress fell?”

Geoffrey continued, “They might not have. When the fortress was breached yesterday, the other three gates didn’t have time to open before the battle ensued, so it’s very likely the news didn’t get out.”

“The gates weren’t opened?”

“No, the gates. Unlike Lundham City, without the orders of the Commander or the City Lord, the gates are not to be opened. The Skeletons massacred their way through. By the time they wanted to open the gates, it was already too late,” Geoffrey explained.

The high-ranking officials in the fortress were wiped out by Glenda in one fell swoop; there was no chance to issue any orders to open the gates.

Now, it seems that at that time, the fortress was like a cage, trapping everyone inside.

By the time they realized the walls were truly breached and the Skeletons were killing their way in, it was already too late to think of opening the gates.

“So, you’re saying the transport team hasn’t received the message and is still delivering supplies,” Wu Heng said.

“Yes!” Geoffrey then said, “My Lord, give me a Skull Team to go out and kill those people and bring back the goods.”

“No rush, wait a moment,” Wu Heng gestured for him to sit down and wait for a while.

Geoffrey was somewhat perplexed but sat down nonetheless, although his eyes betrayed a sense of urgency.

If they wait any longer, the people from the transport team will have reached the fortress.

Wu Heng was still waiting.

Soon, Glenda, who had gone out to scout, flew back and directly entered his body.

Immediately after, an image was shared.

On the road south of the fortress, a team appeared, dressed in the Yeko Kingdom army’s attire, escorting five horse-drawn carriages.

“Eias, if the fortress is really gone, aren’t we going there to die?”

“They are deserters; they surely say the fortress has fallen, otherwise they’ll be the first to be chopped.”

In front of the transport team, two mounted soldiers were conversing in low voices.

“It’s gotten so cold all of a sudden!”

“You’ve been with too many women recently, haven’t you? There are plenty of refugees who have escaped; you’re catching women every day, no wonder you’re cold.”

“Damn, it’s not that kind of cold,” the man cursed and then asked, “If the fortress is really gone, what are we going to do?”

The other glanced sideways at the rear, “What do you think this squad is for? If there’s danger, we ride our horses back and deliver the message.”

“The Commander ordered us to scout the road?”

“What do you think?”

Having heard this, Glenda didn’t listen further and shot upwards, following the road to look into the distance.

A short distance from the team, more level beams could be faintly seen, slowly advancing.

With that, the image ended.

There were two waves of the transport team; the first wave was fake, serving as a decoy. If attacked or if the fortress’s fall was discovered, they would immediately turn back.

That would relay the message to the real team following and then they would retreat.

And what Geoffrey mentioned about the gates being closed, with no one escaping, was also not accurate.

Some people had still managed to escape the city by various means.

After all, in this world, with professionals, scaling the city walls using ropes was not an impossibility.

These escapees running along the road encountered the transport team and also informed them of the situation.

But it was clear the transport team did not quite believe it and decided to see the situation here for themselves.

Looking up again at Geoffrey, Wu Heng said, “Go pick a few men, change into the Yeko Kingdom army’s uniform, and follow me later. Don’t speak carelessly.”

“Ah? What do you mean?”

Appearing puzzled, Geoffrey asked, but the next second, his eyes widened, and he abruptly stood up and stumbled several steps backward.

He saw the person opposite him changing his appearance.

From a rough-skinned man with brown hair, he transformed into an old man with a fringed beard, the very same Commander of the fortress who had been killed and whose body had been carried away.

“You, you…” Geoffrey was somewhat on guard.

Wu Heng said, “It’s an Illusion Technique. Don’t make a fuss. The transport team is split into two groups. The first is a decoy. Once they are attacked, the ones behind will turn and flee immediately.”

“Really? How do you know?”

Geoffrey was even more perplexed.

It was he who had come to inform about the transport team. How would he know about the first and second batches?

“Get ready, we’ll meet at the south city gate in ten minutes. If you are late, I will report to Lord Wen Mansha and have your command stripped.”

“Don’t, please, I’ll get ready immediately.” Geoffrey turned and left.

…

South City Gate.

A transport team of over forty people with five horse-drawn carriages appeared on the road.

After covering some distance, the team did not advance further but simply observed the city wall in the distance, assessing it up and down.

The flag of the Yeko Kingdom, guarded by human soldiers.

No problem at all!

There were no signs whatsoever of a breach.

The cavalryman waved to those behind; some escorted the carriages closer to the wall.

Before a call could be made, the gate opened.

Wu Heng, disguised as the Commander, emerged with a few dressed as soldiers of the Yeko Kingdom.

Wu Heng’s cold and stern gaze swept across the members of the transport team.

“Commander, Sir!”

Seeing the Commander of the fortress emerge, the cavalrymen immediately dismounted and bowed respectfully.

The rest of the soldiers followed suit and paid their respects.

“Why only these five carriages?” Wu Heng asked sharply.

“Sir, some spread rumors that the city had fallen. Our commander told us to come first, the rest of the supplies are behind,” the cavalryman immediately answered.

“Tell the rest of the team to speed up. As for those spreading rumors of the city’s fall, cut them down,” Wu Heng commanded.

“Yes, Commander. I’ll rush back with the message and have them send the supplies quickly,” the cavalryman said promptly.

“Go!”

With another salute, the cavalryman remounted and left.

The remaining people brought the carriages into the city, and then the gate closed.

Swarms of skeletons surged from all around, slaughtering all the members of the transport team.

Glenda’s voice reached Wu Heng’s ears once more, “The messenger cavalryman noticed nothing; the second team is coming.”

…

Soon after.

The second transport team arrived.

This time Wu Heng stood atop the city wall; the people in the transport team below gave him a slight bow.

The gate opened, and Wu Heng beckoned.

The transport team promptly entered the city.

And as the last carriage passed through, the gates closed tightly behind.

Wu Heng gave the order, “Kill them all.”

In an instant, gunfire erupted from all around, a barrage of bullets shot towards the unsuspecting transport team.

Soldiers of the Yeko Kingdom fell to the ground in a moment, their blood tainting the air with a metallic stench.

Geoffrey reported, “Sir, all are dead.”

“Take the supplies to the warehouse, check the wall, see if there are any possible exits,” Wu Heng instructed.

“Yes, Sir,” Geoffrey said, as he and his men took away the carriages and supplies.

Wu Heng ordered skeletons to remove the transport team commander’s body, while the rest were transformed by the Skeleton Mages into undead skeletons, rising up anew from the ground.

…

At the Commander’s Mansion.

Wu Heng took out the bodies that had been brought back.

“Communicate with the dead” was cast, and the body suddenly sat up, cloudy eyes looking in his direction.

Wu Heng asked, “If your transport team does not return, what are the consequences?”

“The body should be sent to investigate and confirm the cause,” the body answered.

Wu Heng continued to inquire, “How many more troops do you have?”

“Not sure.”

“What other plans do you have against the Skeleton Army of Lundham City?”

“Not sure.”

Wu Heng pondered for a moment, then asked again, “Where is the Second Prince?”

The rest might not know where the Second Prince was, but maybe this one, responsible for the supply transport of the nearby cities, might know something.

“Not sure.”

Damn, wishful thinking.

One last question remained, though it didn’t seem particularly necessary.

He asked nonetheless, “Where do you think the Second Prince might be?”

The body answered, “Nilar City.”
