Chapter 1022: Chapter 1022: Welcoming Battle Chapter 1022: Chapter 1022: Welcoming Battle Because of the bustling activity at Sandy Harbor, the entire Starfire fleet was stationed at Spark Shazhou Port, while here at the sparsely populated Desolate Port, besides a small garrison, the rest were all merchant ships.
Moreover, the port was piled high with vast amounts of goods, and should it be breached with the goods destroyed,
Starfire would suffer losses far greater than just an enormous sum of Gold Coin. After all, if even pirates couldn’t be fended off, and there was no sense of security, who would dare to trade through this port?
Owing to the needs of the three major factions, though the two ports of Starfire were small, they had gained wide recognition. Should their reputation be lost due to this event, the promising situation would be utterly ruined.
Upon reaching the harbor, Li Yao witnessed the ensuing chaos. He promptly went to the side of a loudspeaker, and loudly declared, “I am the Lord of Starfire. Everyone, don’t panic. Follow the guards’ orders to enter the port in an orderly manner. Meanwhile, Starfire’s great army is ready for action and will soon come to support the port. The insignificant One-Eyed Pirate Gang is merely the dregs and no real threat.”
Following Li Yao’s words, the once-panicked crowd instantly became organized.
“Rest assured, everyone. Starfire’s harbors can definitely guarantee the safety of your lives and property,” Li Yao said. Then, wings sprouted from his back and he flew directly into the sky. “Watch as I deal a crushing blow to the pirate gang first.”
As he spoke, Li Yao blew on his whistle, and then everyone heard a dragon’s roar echoing through the port.
Dragons, dragons!
Countless people looked up to see a huge black dragon, and when they saw Li Yao landing on the back of the Giant Dragon, cheers erupted spontaneously.
Dragons have always been awe-inspiring creatures. Now that one served as the mount of their Lord, their previously held fears instantly dissolved.
However, that wasn’t the end. They then saw a massive fire eagle with blue flames engulfing its body appearing in the sky.
Following a thunderous roar of waves, a giant sea monster emerged from beneath the surface.
Another wave surged, and a huge hydra with five heads also surfaced.
As these monsters simultaneously charged towards the approaching pirate fleet, the people in the port erupted with earth-shaking cheers, truly relieved and no longer in a state of panic.
It wasn’t just the people at the harbor; even the pirates, seeing the formidable creatures surge forward, felt their courage waver.
The Pirate Deputy Captain, a masked female thief, turned pale at this sight.
“Damn it, those greenhorns are really unreliable. They’ve tricked us! When I get back, I’m going to kill them,” the minotaur brute behind the deputy captain cursed loudly.
Although the Deputy Captain was also shocked, there was no turning back. She barked, “Aim the front cannons and kill those two sea monsters. All ranged attackers, prepare to take down the Giant Dragon in the sky.”
The female captain’s face darkened; even if she didn’t think they would lose, a victory against such creatures would come at a heavy cost.
She couldn’t imagine why creatures like the sea monster and the hydra would appear at the same time, and what was even more unbelievable to her was that a Giant Dragon would allow a human to stand on its back.
The mere sight of the Giant Dragon was enough to cause panic. Had the ordinary crew members known that it was a dragon with the bloodline of the Dragon King, it’s likely that all the pirates would lose their will to fight.
Li Yao spotted the warships turning to reveal their cannon ports and revealed a slight smile. His intention was to stall the fleet and prevent it from entering the port, so the people at the harbor could fully prepare.
Seeing the pirates aiming their cannons, Li Yao immediately commanded the sea monster and the hydra to dive back underwater.
“Damn, we’ve been fooled,” the female captain finally realized. All of these monsters were the pets of that human; otherwise, even if the sea monster and the hydra had intelligence, they wouldn’t avoid their cannons. “Everyone, take note! Focus on the man atop the black dragon. Kill him, and all the monsters will vanish. The ships at the rear, circle around and attack the port, don’t give them time to prepare.”
The female pirate could now only rely on the ranged attackers. As a thief, she was too far to hunt down Li Yao, and since the fleet had stopped, she understood Li Yao’s strategy, which is why she immediately ordered the halted fleet to take a detour and attack the harbor.
Li Yao was not at all surprised by this, as the wisdom of ancient gods’ monsters increased with their level.
As for humanoid creatures and NPCs, many possessed unparalleled wit, playing players in circles with cunning NPCs aplenty. This female pirate herself was a race-class boss and the Pirate Deputy Captain, making her inevitably even more sly when leading the pirates to attack the harbor alone.
A cold gleam flickered in Li Yao’s eyes as he shouted, “Kill!”
Following his command, the sea monster that had vanished beneath the waves suddenly leaped out of the water.
“Fire the cannons, fire the cannons!”
“Damn it, don’t fire the cannons–do you want to kill our own men?”
Although there were fifty ships, only thirteen or fourteen of them were warships equipped with cannons.
The moment the sea monster leaped out, it was already above a small ship. If they fired now, the cannons would either fail to hit the sea monster in time, or even if they did, the ships below would also be destroyed.
Gazza…
Amidst a horrific snapping sound and the pirates’ desperate howls, the sea monster’s massive body directly smashed a warship in half.
“Hehehe, as expected of barbarians, mere brutes who only understand brute force.”
As the Ice Serpent spoke, a huge wave suddenly appeared on the water’s surface.
In fact, their type of ship was not afraid of such waves, and everyone held on tightly to the ship’s railings and anything they could grab onto, knowing things would be fine once the wave had passed.
However, to their horror, the wave suddenly turned into an ice wave.
The impact of the wave became like an avalanche, rumbling thunderously…
Under the tremendous impact akin to a glacier, another ship shattered.
On the other side, a huge maelstrom formed, sending a ship spinning crazily with the whirlpool.
Countless surviving pirates were forced to jump into the sea, where they were ambushed by a group of Naga and Murlocs.
Other pirates watched with trembling hearts, while the multi-headed hydra had reached under a medium warship, its five heads grasping the large ship, which started to plummet, emitting creaking and cracking sounds.
The hydra’s heads continuously cast spells, slaughtering the pirates aboard.
The Fire Hawk struck a medium warship like a shooting star, leaving a massive hole and allowing torrents of seawater to pour in crazily.
The Fire Hawk burst out of the steam, its body covered in large amounts of steam, followed by a vicious feather attack.
Li Yao and the Black Dragon Queen did not stop, and as they passed an intermediate battleship, Li Yao blew a whistle.
A giant spider tank suddenly landed atop the warship, crushing a swath of people, before the spider tank also commenced its frenzy of attacks.
A thunderous boom followed. Li Yao summoned the cannon battery as well, crushing who knows how many pirates.
The artillery battery then began firing one massive cannonball after another, each trailing flames.
The female Pirate Deputy Captain’s face turned ashen in an instant. Their losses had exceeded one-tenth just upon first contact, a fact she found incredibly hard to accept…
