Chapter 1013: Chapter 1013: Tower of Oblivion Chapter 1013: Chapter 1013: Tower of Oblivion During these days of rapid leveling, Starfire was making a fortune, given the sheer number of players. While not everyone resupplied through Starfire, the small fraction that did were enough to make Starfire prosper.

Starfire’s funds swiftly ballooned. With ample funds, the intensity of their construction naturally increased.

The opening of the main storyline dungeons did not affect the development of the two Starfire bases.

Suddenly, a cluster of dungeons was released, leaving players excited but also a bit bewildered.

The advantage of this was that many guilds felt that not all first dungeon clear achievements could be monopolized by one guild since there were multiple dungeons.

With the lure of higher-level dungeons, having cleared one, players would not waste time in lower-level dungeons.

The difficulty was that many players did not know which dungeon to choose.

As the dungeons opened, many large guilds did not choose a dungeon right away but sent people to monitor the dungeon entrances instead.

This group of dungeons was unusual; to distribute players, choosing the highest difficulty dungeon required gathering at the dungeon entrance. For lesser difficulties, players could enter through the dungeon portals in their own towns.

The game now also had an equipment scoring system; players could not enter specific dungeons without reaching a certain gear level.

For example, the hard level five-man main dungeons required an equipment score of thirty-five or higher.

The equipment score depended on the level and quality of the gear. For instance, although Li Yao was fully outfitted in top-tier gear, it was only a level-30 Marshal Suit, and even with dark gold equipment to complement it, he scored only eighty-two.

Meanwhile, mainstream players were roughly at the thirty something level, while top-tier players, fully equipped with epic gear mixed with some Golden Dress, scored only in the forties or fifties–these were the elite players.

This caused the player distribution to be effective; otherwise, everyone might have attempted the highest difficulty, given that five-man dungeons were relatively simpler.

This time, the dungeon cluster allowed more daily completions. Specifically, this event introduced something new, the Clearance Command.

The Clearance Command now had four tiers, requiring corresponding levels of Clearance Command fragments to assemble, ten fragments for one Command.

Defeating monsters of specific levels would drop corresponding Clearance Command fragments, and although the drop rate was not high, it wasn’t too low either.

Grinding monsters all day could gather at least two Clearance Commands, and the Command fragments could be traded.

This event, killing level-40 monsters would drop tier-four Green Horn fragments.

A tier-four Clearance Command could then grant one more run of a five-man dungeon, and using two would add a run for a ten-person dungeon.

Of course, the number of times Clearance Command could be used in dungeons each week was limited–you couldn’t endlessly farm even the highest difficulty, but it did substantially increase the number of attempts available.

This was indeed a godsend for players, as it allowed them to accumulate equipment faster and upgrade their gear levels.

“Why aren’t these guilds choosing dungeons? What’s going on?”

When Starfire majestically arrived at the entrance of the Earl’s Tower, an inquisitive Starfire member asked.

“You’ll know soon enough,” Li Yao said with a smile.

Then, to the astonishment of the Starfire members, most of the guilds gathered at Earl’s Tower Hearthstoned away.

“Damn, what’s going on?” the members of Starfire were utterly confused. These guilds hanging around the entrance was one thing, but why did they look annoyed when they saw Starfire and then Hearthstone back to town abruptly?

“It’s simple. Starfire has so far claimed almost all the first clears of main story dungeons. Despite their disdain, they still don’t want to compete with Starfire,” Unparalleled Beauty said with a laugh.

The people of Starfire were immediately energized, while the remaining teams, which were not interested in competing for first kills and were either focusing on raising their gear levels or preparing for ten-person dungeons.

“The five-man dungeons won’t be live-streamed, so everyone doesn’t need to hide any techniques. Keep each other posted on progress, and if you find good ways to clear, make sure to share them with the scribe, who will then compile and send them to each team’s leader,” Li Yao instructed, “Alright then, split up according to your teams, and give it your all.”

The members of Starfire entered the dungeons, with Li Yao’s team comprising Li Yao (damage dealer), another damage dealer, Titan (damage dealer), Fruit Knight (tank), and Tian Xiang (healer).

In the meantime, Beauty was in the second team, with others dispersed among different teams.

“Big brother, is there an explanation for this tall tower?” Titan asked as they entered the dungeon, unable to help but marvel at the ancient yet flourishing tower.

“Hold on, I’ll do some archeological research,” Li Yao said as he spotted no monsters inside and began using his archeology skills.

Archeology could unearth and take away some items that other players considered junk or unmovable, and sometimes it could even assemble some really cool knick-knacks or even mounts.

Although Li Yao knew the history of this place, he needed to raise his archeology level on one hand and also couldn’t merely say it outright, as that would give away too much.

After a while, Li Yao finally said, “The history of this tower can be traced back over a thousand years ago. This area once flourished as part of Tristram after it was sealed. The kingdom shattered, but another lord took over this place, attempting to recreate the grandeur of yore. Generation after generation struggled until the land flourished again, and the tower was constructed over a thousand years ago. However, at that time, only one female remained in the lord’s family.”

“Was that woman the female earl?” Titan continued to inquire.

“Yes, the old lord had died in an accident, and the heir was only ten years old. But generations of lords had loved their people dearly, and were very kind to their subordinates. Despite countless crises at the time, with the support from all the people in the land, the citizens and retinue managed to preserve their heritage until the lone heir had grown up,” Li Yao recounted, images filled with historical traces flickering through his eyes like a film.

This was the benefit of archeology, which allowed the tracing of history. Of course, ordinary archeological players couldn’t achieve what Li Yao had done, but that was because Li Yao had gained the achievement related to time in the past. Previously, Li Yao could only piece together some documents, and the detail level of those documents depended on the level of his archeological achievements.

“Incredible, who would have guessed, who would have guessed that someone could revisit those old scenes,” a long sigh echoed into everyone’s ears.

“Who…” Fruit Knight immediately went on full alert.

“You’re here to kill me, aren’t you? Then please, come up,” the woman spoke, followed by a clattering sound.

As the group looked up, they saw the female earl in a contraption resembling an elevator, swiftly descending on thick chains.

It landed heavily in the middle of the hall.

“Big brother, should we go up or not?” Titan asked.

“This has triggered a special plot; of course, we should go up,” Li Yao stepped onto it…
