“The Chaos Plane was too dangerous, harboring too many powerful beings, like the Abyss Mouth, Dark Origin, and Hole Bugs, staying with them was too risky; a careless bump into them in the mist, and you couldn’t even run, so I left,” the Serpent of Misfortune explained.

Negris suddenly said, “Looks like your cowardice isn’t just a recent thing.”

The Serpent of Misfortune, undeterred, responded, “What’s so bad about being a bit cowardly? It’s earned me an extra six hundred thousand years of life. Your Dragon God could have lived longer too but according to you, it degenerated after reverting to its ancestors, presumably to breed your kind of Giants, so it died early.”
