Chapter 1084: Chapter 649 Who did it? Chapter 1084: Chapter 649 Who did it? “What! You’re female?”
“Pregnant? Who did it?”
“Failed? Oh, that’s too bad, please accept my condolences.”
“Damn it, the cursed Dragon God, did it do something bad to you while you were unconscious?”
As soon as the words of the Serpent of Misfortune fell, there was an uproar and Anthony and Negriss vehemently condemned such immoral acts.
The Serpent of Misfortune wore a baffled expression, “What male and female, I am an Ancient God, how could I possibly have such a lowly classification as gender.”
“Ah? Gender classification is lowly?” Negriss was stunned.
“Of course,” the Serpent of Misfortune took it for granted, “Needing more than one creature to reproduce is already a primitive method. Does this mean I have to find another Serpent of Misfortune to reproduce? What a joke, what if there’s no other Serpent of Misfortune around? Wouldn’t I just go extinct?”
“Uh, but…” both Anthony and Negriss belonged to species with genders and were accustomed to the existence of gender from a young age. The Serpent’s way of thinking seemed strange to them.
“There’s no ‘but’. I can reproduce on my own, no need for another Serpent of Misfortune to help. These are my eggs. Sadly, it failed. I had too many fantasies about it, but not enough power to nurture it. Eventually, due to insufficient energy, it couldn’t hatch and turned into stone over time,” said the Serpent of Misfortune regretfully.
“Uh, too many fantasies? Enough power?” Negriss felt puzzled, what fantasies? Fantasies about a more handsome hatched little snake? Isn’t it all left to fate? What power is needed to achieve that?
Anthony leaned over and whispered, “Why do I feel like its way of reproducing is not quite the same as what we understand?”
Negriss nodded and then asked, “How do you reproduce? Without another Serpent of Misfortune, how did you get pregnant?”
The Serpent of Misfortune looked somewhat bewildered, “Is it hard? Isn’t it just about thinking it and then becoming pregnant?”
After the Serpent of Misfortune’s explanation, everyone finally understood how it reproduces. Concentrate the mind on a specific organ within, keep imagining, and provide it with energy, and it will grow and develop in the direction of the imagination, eventually becoming a new individual.
“I hoped it would have forelimbs because I found that having a grip during combat gives a great advantage. I wanted its scales to be sharper, scraping off a piece of flesh off the enemy with a mere rub. I hoped its tail would have the ability to break spatial limits, being able to whip enemies at the end of my sight,” the Serpent of Misfortune stated.
“I wished it to swim fast, have immense strength, resolute will, and the ability to control elements…”
The Serpent of Misfortune went on and on, leaving everyone stunned, “Now I see why you couldn’t hatch it, your expectations were perhaps too high.”
“So it failed, huh? I had no experience back then, and only when it started growing did I realize that my power was insufficient to hatch it,” said the Serpent of Misfortune annoyed.
Negriss nodded, “Indeed, having children, everyone is inexperienced the first time. Try again, then why don’t you try again?”
The Serpent of Misfortune rolled its eyes.
Everyone instantly understood, fearing perhaps the Dragon God was involved.
Speaking of the Dragon God, Anthony suddenly shook, “The forelimb grip, the scales’ grip, doesn’t it sound like a Black Dragon? Agile movements, isn’t it like a Silver Dragon? Controlling elements, doesn’t it resemble various Elemental Dragons? Breaking through spatial limits…”
Negriss was also shaken violently, “Space Dragon? These ideas of his almost represent a composite of all kinds of Giant Dragons, except for the Prophet Dragon and the Time Dragon. Could it be that the Dragon God used his plan, adding a few of his own ideas, to create our entire lineage of the Giant Dragon Clan?”
The Serpent of Misfortune shook violently as well, “No wonder I feel so close to the Giant Dragons, it turns out you were all conceived by me. This damned Dragon God stole my ideas!”
“Don’t involve me, I am the Prophet Dragon, I am not included in your ideas. Moreover, these are just your claims, it’s not certain who stole from whom. Perhaps you found the talents of our Giant Dragon Clan too enticing and you added them to your plans for your descendants. If you can’t produce evidence, then I will accuse you of plagiarism,” Negriss said.
“Ah? How can I produce evidence for something I thought up in my mind?” the Serpent of Misfortune was bewildered.
“How could the Dragon God plagiarize something you thought up in your mind?” Negriss asked.
The Serpent of Misfortune paused, “That’s true, was it just a coincidental thought? How strange, right?”
“It’s possible, after all, you’re both reptilian ancient gods. It’s normal to have a common vision for descendants. It’s just that the Dragon God is more self-aware and wouldn’t endow all his attributes to his descendants all at once. You are very brave,” Negriss remarked.
The Serpent of Misfortune hung its head in embarrassment, no longer dwelling on the issue.
Negriss also sighed in relief, knowing that copying someone else’s ideas was not a good reputation to have. The Dragon God might not care, but as his descendant, Negriss had to care. Unsubstantiated matters like these, if even slightly unclear, could lead to significant controversy.
Fortunately, the eggs of the Serpent of Misfortune had not hatched. Even if the Dragon God was powerful, he surely couldn’t copy ideas directly from its mind without Soul Contact.
It was unknown what level the egg would hatch at, imbued with talents of all kinds of Giant Dragons, what kind of creature would it become?
“Ange, can you resurrect it? You should have enough energy to hatch it, shouldn’t you?” Negriss turned and asked Ange.
Ange shook his head, “I don’t know.”
The Serpent of Misfortune blinked and hesitantly asked, “Sir, what do you mean by ‘I don’t know’? Do you not know whether you can resurrect it, or do you not know if you have enough energy?”
If Ange had simply said ‘cannot,’ that would have been one thing, but ‘I don’t know’? This matter was too important to the Serpent of Misfortune for it not to ask for clarification, meanwhile, a faint, impractical hope arose in its heart.
However, no sooner had it spoken than it shook its head. It wasn’t about reviving a freshly dead creature; that egg had been petrified for who knows how many years. Could even a miraculous power resurrect a petrified egg?
Energy shouldn’t be a concern. After offering its soul, it had come to understand what type of being Ange was. Ange’s network of faith was even more powerful than its ancient godly power and was continuously replenishing.
These ancient gods, once away from the Chaos Plane, were like fish out of water, their power diminishing bit by bit, very hard to replenish.
Ange was different, however. His network of faith allowed him to replenish his strength anytime, continually and without concern for hatching the egg.
“Heh, you might not know, but to scare us, the Dragon God threw a stone egg imbued with your essence into the Dragon Clan’s hatching chamber. That egg was resurrected and hatched by Ange, what differences could there be in the challenge compared to that one, even if yours is slightly larger?”
The Serpent of Misfortune widened its eyes, a slight flame called hope igniting within, “Really… can it really be resurrected? I… I… I…”
It struggled to find words, as it had already sacrificed its soul and had nothing left to give.
