Chapter 1008: Chapter 577 Bye Bye Chapter 1008: Chapter 577 Bye Bye “Construction, resurrection, skeletons, bones.” Ange asked.
Others were baffled, but Negris understood: “You mean, the method of the temple’s revival is exactly the same as the skeletons’ revival? Is it possible that the temple is a body, akin to a skeleton? Your imagination is too wild; where would you find such a powerful soul to…”
At this point, Negris suddenly thought of something, and said in astonishment, “Undead Godhood?”
If the Undead Temple were treated as a body, then the only soul capable of animating such a vast body would be the Undead Godhood.
As it uttered these words, Ange had already infused the power of godhood into the Undead Holy Fire, which suddenly surged up two to three times its size, like a magical furnace with its flames turned up to maximum.
Anthony was confused. What on earth was happening?
Though bewildered, he reacted quickly, shivering all over: “Ullalala!!! The Undead reveal themselves!!! The gaze of the God watches over me!! Ullalala!!!”
His behavior, to use professional terminology, was maniacal, but beneath the vastly intensified light of the Undead Holy Fire, this mania seemed particularly appropriate, as if Anthony truly had attracted the gaze of the God. Even the two Giant Spirit Knights hesitated, exchanging uncertain glances.
Seeing that he had fooled them, Anthony covertly looked towards where Ange was, no guess needed–such a significant anomaly could only be Ange’s work; no one else could cause such a commotion even if they wanted to.
As his gaze flicked over, he just caught Ange making a forceful gesture with his right hand, and Anthony’s heart suddenly tightened: not good. Immediately, he exaggeratedly raised his own right hand,
At the moment he raised his hand, the earth began to tremble thunderously, as if caused by Anthony’s gesture.
Beside the main hall, at a spot that had not been affected by the recent revival, countless pieces of broken bricks, wooden beams, sculptures, fountains, and so forth were gathered up as if by an invisible hand, slowly fitting together.
At the seams, the black smoke of the Breath of Death wafted, and the severed parts slowly fused together.
Despite many missing pieces, just like the Resting Wind could mend sparse bones but not replace missing limbs, if too much was missing, the reconstructed parts would collapse again.
“Oh dear, where did the top of that garden go? Has somebody picked it up to use as firewood?”
“Who would dare to burn it? If it was made of wood, they definitely took it home. It would make a fine cabinet or coffin, how nice.”
“Oh no, that statue is missing a leg?!”
“Which one, which one? It’s not missing a leg. Oh, you mean the one in the middle? Are you daft? That’s a statue of a goddess.”
“It’s collapsed, it’s collapsed, the foundation must have been dug out, it was all high-quality stone bricks.”
“Why are you all running? Oh, no no no, I didn’t dig it, I found them here, it must have been dug out by someone before.”
Although there was quite a bit of damage, in such a grand scale, it seemed insignificant. More people were shocked by the scene that seemed like a miracle, witnessing with their own eyes a ruin manifesting from nothing, rising again before everyone.
However, beneath the intense gaze of everyone, Anthony, the focal point, did not dare relax for a moment. He desperately glanced towards Ange’s location, almost straining his eyes–because he noticed that the other half of the temple had not yet moved.
When that half of the temple was fully propped up, Ange indeed performed the same gesture with his left hand.
Instantly, Anthony responded by lifting his left hand vigorously, bellowing out:
“Let thousands of souls bear witness–the Land where the Undead God Slumbers–even as endless time wears on–Holy Fire remains eternally undying–let thousands of souls cry out–souls exist forever and ever–in the Undying of the Undead God–let thousands of souls…”
With his cry, the ground once again trembled with a rumble, his voice seemingly becoming the background noise of the temple’s revival, echoing in the wilderness, echoing in the hearts of everyone.
The believers, who were already trembling from the scene, could not help but follow Anthony’s voice, shouting in unison.
The disturbance was too great, too great indeed. The other four Giant Spirit Knights that had already started to return now came rushing back, and not just them–the area behind them teemed with High-Order Undead, likely the guardians of the Eye of Eternal Silence. Judging by their numbers, almost all of them had come.
The two furry balls spotted their companions returning first, exchanged glances, and one of them rolled backward, tumbling out from the ground.
Only after getting some distance away from the crowd did it transform back into a Giant Spirit Knight and, treading lightly, it dashed towards its companions, sending a soul message from afar: “Gently—-Quietly—-Come down—-”
The four bewildered Giant Spirit Knights landed softly on the ground, their movements instantly becoming quieter. Seeing this, the rest of the Undead also landed in bewilderment.
The returning Giant Spirit Knight approached and made a gesture for silence before darting back.
Those left in confusion had no choice but to zip their lips and stealthily follow, like audience members at the back of an opera house sneaking to the bathroom.
As they advanced cautiously, the four following Giant Spirit Knights, following their companion’s example, wrapped themselves in their essence, turning into a ball of fur. At the head of the procession, five large fur balls were rolling forward at an unusually high speed, as if racing.
Soon, everyone quietly merged with the crowd, witnessing the near completion of the ruins’ restoration to a miracle, then stood there dumbfounded.
Most of these High-Order Undead had seen the ruins of the Undead Temple, that pile of rubble and decayed walls, now transformed into a magnificent temple. The Undead Holy Fire, which had been flickering out, was now blazing like a lighthouse’s torch. What kind of miracle was this?
“The Undead God, revival, collective frenzy, Saintess Awakening…” The two earlier Giant Spirit Knights narrated what they heard and saw to the others, one after another.
However, the Giant Spirit Knights themselves didn’t quite understand the situation and their recount lacked coherence. Still, it was clear that all this commotion had been stirred up by Kent and his ‘subordinate’ priests and the Saintess.
“Oh, Kent? The confused Kent? It was his doing? Then it shouldn’t be anything bad.”
“Yes, Kent is even older than I am. Before I gained immortality, he was already the Great Priest of the temple.”
“Impressive, Kent always keeps a low profile, but when he makes a move, he creates such a stir. Some of my sleeping children were awoken by the racket.”
“Oh, did you also wake up? I did too, sleeping when I sensed a great soul taking shape. I thought it was Your Majesty returning, but it turned out to be Kent.”
Once it was clear it wasn’t an enemy causing trouble, the crisis naturally dissolved, and everybody looked at each other: “So… what do we do now?”
The two fur balls at the front turned around and said firmly, “Pay tribute.”
“Oh, pay tribute, so we’re leaving?”
“Are you stupid? I’m telling you to pay tribute, as in worship.” One by one, a multitude of High-Order Undead knelt down to kowtow.
And so, under the witness of countless High-Order Undead and multitude of devout followers, the resurrection of the Undead Temple was complete.
Ange and the others immediately recognized its familiar layout. Negris, astonished, said, “Isn’t this the layout of Resting Camp? There’s my Bronze Book Tower, and that skull is Locke’s palace. Kvada, if Undead Godhood can revive the Undead Temple, does that mean it can also control Resting Camp?”
PS: Previously, a book copied the opening of mine. Let it be copied; having written books for so many years, I’ve seen quite a lot. The beginning of ‘Super Skeleton Soldier’ was even imitated by ‘Super Jumping Egg.’ Out of sight, out of mind, but some uninformed readers who read the copied book first might later see this one and say: “Why is it so similar to such-and-such a book?”
When that happens, it feels as disgusting as having swallowed a fly.
