Chapter 921: Chapter 921: A Sigh of Relief Stuck in the Heart Chapter 921: Chapter 921: A Sigh of Relief Stuck in the Heart Diwu Zexuan spoke and, without waiting for Rui Hui to react, went straight to the side of the field, led a horse out, and walked to the entrance of the horse track.

“If it’s a competition you want, then it’s a competition you’ll get. I refuse to believe that not only am I inferior in medicine, but I’ll also lose in horse riding!” Without a second word, Rui Hui led her horse to the track.

She had been horseback riding since she was young and had spent much time on horseback, which encompassed all of her childhood memories. She couldn’t believe she would lose to Diwu Zexuan.

The two didn’t exchange a single word of old times when they met and immediately began competing upon looking at each other with disfavor.

Rui Hui’s horse riding skills were renowned within the Adolf family.

When facing her peers from the family, most of her victories were overwhelming.

As soon as word got out that Diwu Zexuan wanted to compete with her, a crowd of spectating onlookers quickly gathered.

Queran Adolf, upon learning of the impending race, promptly had the track cleared and took his place in the high seat of the horse field to act as judge.

“All obstacles within the horse field make up a full circuit; whoever completes the circuit in the shortest time wins. If there are no objections, let’s get ready to start,” Queran announced, and cheers erupted from the crowd.

At the countdown, Rui Hui was the first to grab the reins tightly and raise her whip in the air.

At the sound of the starting gun, they were off, crossing the line.

She gained an advantage right from the start.

“Go–”
Compared to Diwu Zexuan’s caution, Rui Hui had nothing but blind courage to spur herself forward.

Strangely, despite giving her all, she was only slightly ahead.

During the balance beam segment, she was going too fast, her horse stumbled, and she nearly fell off.

In that critical moment, she clamped her legs around the horse’s belly and narrowly avoided disaster.

But when she looked up, she found that Diwu Zexuan, who had been trailing, had unexpectedly passed her.

After the balance beam, the course continued with the more conventional hurdles and ring jumps, which Diwu Zexuan cleared with ease, thanks to his skilled riding, maintaining a consistent lead.

Dressed all in white riding attire, his delicate features carried an air of detached coldness, yet he was undeniably handsome and captivating.

People around couldn’t help but scream continuously.

Many girls were waving at Diwu Zexuan, their eyes filled with hearts.

Rui Hui glanced at the edge of the field, a pent-up frustration burning in her chest, leaving her feeling hot-headed.

Whipping her horse, she urged it to chase after the lead.

On the final stretch of the track, there lay a bed of nail-studded planks, with gaps only at every other step.

The sharp nails could pierce even the horse’s hooves; should they miss the gaps, the startled horse could easily unseat its rider.

A fall to the side might be all right, but landing on the nails could mean death or severe injury.

The nail-studded plank was the obstacle Rui Hui dreaded the most.

Normally, she could lead her opponent by a good distance at this point, slowing down to ensure safe passage.

She had survived close calls before with this approach.

But today, pushed to the brink by Diwu Zexuan, if she didn’t take a risk on this final obstacle, she was certain to lose.

Staring at the dense bed of nail-studded planks before her, Rui Hui clenched her teeth and charged forward with a crack of her whip.

She stepped steadily on the first few safe spots and briskly crossed most of the plank.

A thrill of triumph swelled within her as she prepared to continue forward when suddenly her horse’s footing faltered, and it stepped askew by a few inches, landing on one of the nails.

The horse screamed and reared on its hind legs.

The next second, it began to bolt in panic.

“Be careful!”

Diwu Zexuan had quickly cleared all the obstacles without rushing towards the finish line; instead, he turned his horse around and chased after Rui Hui.

He had been aware from the start that the nail-studded plank was her weakness and had calculated that as long as he could maintain the lead through the initial segments, Rui Hui was bound to lose.
